| If you don't have the knack for soldering or have never been properly trained on how to do it I suggest you crimp. Most of solder joints I have seen are too cold, they did not penetrate into the wires (looks like a shinny ball of solder on top of the wires). On the other side of the spectrum I have seen where they obliterate the joint practically melting everything general area and don't properly insulate the joint causing the joint to short with other wires or conductive surfaces. Crimping can be a very high quality, consistent, joint. The problem with crimping is that most people use those crappy crimping pliers, plus there are situations where crimping will not damage a harness if you are dealing with a joint in a very inaccessible location close to flammable objects. To do a proper crimp you need a ratcheting crimp tool. The only time I solder joints is if I am taking signals off the ECU harness or if I am lengthening a wire. Terminating relays etc, crimp does an excellent job in about a 1/4 of the time.
